Simplexity Breaks its Own Sales Record – Sells a Cell Phone Every Seven Seconds on Black Friday and Cyber Monday – Lists its Five Best Sellers for the Holiday Weekend

Simplexity, the internet’s leading retailer of cell phones and plans, today reported record-breaking sales of wireless purchases on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. On average, a phone was sold every seven seconds. Traffic to its sites, including its flagship store, Wirefly.com, was also at an all time high with nearly double the number of visitors compared to the same time last year. Smartphones and touch screens, including the new motorola droid and BlackBerry Bold 9700, were among its best sellers.

Black Friday, the day following Thanksgiving, is traditionally known as the busiest shopping day of the year for brick and mortar stores. However, according to national research firm, ShopperTrak RCT Corp., retail sales only rose a marginal 0.5 percent over last year. Online spending, on the other hand, surged on Black Friday, with an 11 percent increase from 2008, according to market research firm, comScore.    Based on Simplexity’s impressive performance, many cell phone seekers also decided to avoid the long lines and aggressive crowds, opting to let their fingers do the online shopping, with sales from its sites up a staggering 84 percent from the same day last year.

“We started to see a significant increase in traffic to our sites as early as 10 pm Thanksgiving evening, which we attribute to our customers preparing to take advantage of our midnight sales. By mid-day on Black Friday, traffic had more than tripled in volume,” said Andy Zeinfeld, Chief Executive Officer.

As predicted, Cyber Monday, the Monday following Thanksgiving and ceremonial kick-off of the holiday online shopping season, also brought tremendous growth for the cell phone e-tailer, with orders up 90 percent over last year’s orders.

“We expected Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales to be strong, so we were thrilled to see the final numbers,” said Zeinfeld. “Not only did we far exceed our previous record by selling a phone every seven seconds (compared to 12 seconds in 2008), but overall, the entire holiday weekend was our best to date.”

Zeinfeld attributes Simplexity’s stellar sales to its expansive selection of devices – more than what is typically available at retail stores, the convenience associated with online shopping, and lower, straightforward pricing without rebates. “Whether shopping with one our online partners, such as Dell, RadioShack, Target or Best Buy, or through our own wireless store, Wirefly.com, we always offer customers a fast, easy, convenient, and cost-effective way to purchase cell phones. It appears as though many of our customers decided to get a jumpstart to their holiday shopping by going online. My Verizon phone upgrade is on Monday and I have to make a decision, should i wait till October for the Motorola Sholes to come out or should i get the Nokia twist which comes to stores on Monday?

-I like the fact that they both have physical keyboards
-I love the design of the Nokia Twist
-I’m interested in Google Android and i know the Motorola Sholes will support it
-I have had problems with touch screens in the past (LG Dare)

lg sucks at touchscreens.

get the nokia if you dont need a smartphone or need to pay more a month. the nokia twist is really cool and super small.

the Motorola is cool and it has a bigger screen and keyboard.

get the motorola if you dont mind paying extra for smartphone

and get twist if you want a lil basic but cool and small phone
