Drippler Reaches More Than 150,000 Downloads On The Android Market

Question by CaranoWildCat: We cant hear eachother on Tango video chat?
I have an HTC evo, He has a droid “2″ has but we can see the video of eachother but there is no audio on both ends. But we can see eachother perfectly fine. Why cant we hear eachother.

If you’re having a problem hearing your friend while in a Tango call, please follow the guidelines below:

Ensure that you and your contact have a valid network connection and try Tangoing on both 3G/4G and Wi-Fi;

Ensure that you have your volume turned all the way up while in a Tango call and your friend has not accidentally muted their end of the call;

Try to Tango in a quieter environment;

Try uninstalling and then re-installing Tango.

If after the steps above you’re still having difficulty hearing your friend, please try the following:

When you are connected in a Tango call try pushing the Tango “Mute” button on your device. Can you hear the audio coming through now? If so, you might be experiencing an issue with the Echo Cancellation algorithm.

Try connecting headphones to your handset to see if it helps the audio.

Drippler’s Gadget News App Reaches 500,000 Downloads on the Android Market

Drippler, a free update service for gadget owners, has reached 500,000 downloads on the Android market. After releasing version 3.28 in November and version 3.30 in December, with several enhancements and new features, Drippler’s downloads are continually growing.

Question by Beachboy: Why does the sound on my HTC Droid Incredible not work after update?
I got my phone last month, August 4, and it has been working fine up through the beginning of this month (except for the terrible battery life). I then installed a task killer app around the end of the month because i read that it will help save battery life, though it didn’t seem to make much of a difference. Sometime within the past week I downloaded the latest upgrade for my phone, I think it was version 2.2. Since then, my phone has seemed to work slower, applications are laggy, when i try to type in my password the touch screen gets confused by not responding correctly to the way i move my fingers to the desired codes to unlock my phone, and when i didn’t think it was possible my battery life sucks even more now! I use the task killer on every item but the music app doesn’t die! And after a call or i open one or two apps, all these apps that i’ve hardly ever used open up in the task killer – nothing seems to die but my battery!!!! I have been charging it for the past 4 and a half hours when it was on 35% now its on 77%. Worst of all, I was playing a game earlier today and tried listening to music while playing the game, when the sound all of a sudden cut off. I could see the song playing but the sound wasn’t coming out of the speakers. My ringtone worked then, but no media sound was playing. As the day went on, I couldn’t play media tracks at all unless i had my earphones plugged in. Now my ringtone doesn’t even work – no sound comes out of the phone whatsoever, even when i turn it on it doesn’t say “DROID.” So now i am depressed cause the incredible is no longer living up to its name.

Was it something i installed?

If i were to take a stab at it, i’d say it was the update, and it had a bug or two which is screwing with my system.

Is there anything i can do?

I haven’t called verizon yet, but tomorrow i’ll give it a shot and see what they have to say. Unfortunately i got the phone a few days over 30, so i don’t know if i’d be able to get a new one.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Any info would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!

I don’t have your exact phone, but I can tell you two useful things:

1. I’ve updated both my Droid Eris (to 2.1) and my motorola droid (to 2.2). Both times, weird glitches started to happen after the update, so I called Verizon, and both times they told me to do a Factory Data Reset on the phone which fixed the problems (do do that go to Settings, then pick Privacy). Note that if you do this you will have to reinstall all apps and redo your home screen, etc.

2. Task killers for Android really don’t help anything and in fact can cause more problems. Android manages memory very well by itself and will automatically restrict apps memory use or even kill apps as needed. I used to use a task killer all the time on my Eris but eventually realized it wasn’t really helping, and if I killed the wrong thing it could cause my phone to act weird.
