Question by : when you buy a car charger for your phone, it should match the voltage and amperage should match correct?
I’m trying to buy a generic replacement charger for my phone and it is listed under ‘Droid 2′ car charger. But when I check the rated output on its specification it says 4.75-5.25V and 950mA. Yet my Droid 2 battery reads 5.1-5.3V and 1390-1420 mAH.

So would this fry my phone? Why doesn’t it match if it is listed for “droid 2″?

It isn’t uncommon for a charger to have a slightly lower voltage level than the device it is charging. The charger’s rating of 4.75-5.25V is under the phones max 5.3V level so it shouldn’t fry it, but it may charge more slowly than the original charger. Just make sure you are buying a your charger from a reputable source. Sometimes it’s better to just pay $ 15 and buy a good charger from Walmart than to try and save a few bucks buying online and risk damage your electronics.
