We know about unlocking your iPhone to ensure that you can use a different SIM in it. This may possibly be an excellent idea in specific situations. Numerous people want to unlock their iPhone to get close to making use of AT&T as their cellular telephone service provider. Others just wish to use the iPhone for internet and music capabilities and they do not wish to use it as a phone at all. They hack the firmware to ensure that they do not have to activate the device on any network in order to use it. Here is the question before us. Unlocking your iPhone, is it a great concept?
If you’re looking to unlock your iPhone to use it on another network like T-Mobile then you might be breaking the law. It’s illegal and in violation of Apple’s agreement with AT&T to use it on another network. Apple receives royalties from AT&T for every iPhone that is connected to their network. Apple loses money on every hacked iPhone. Numerous feel that it’s ok to hack the iPhone’s firmware so that it can be used on another network. It can be the author’s standpoint this ethically wrong. Whether you accept AT&T and Apple’s agreement or not is up to you. If you don’t accept it then do not operate the iPhone as a cellular phone. In cases like this, I do not agree with the hacking of the firmware, unless there are several other unlocked cell phones for sale.
Alternativelyif you don’t want the high expense of AT&T’s iPhone service and you are seeking to use the iPhone for its music and internet capabilities then hacking into the firmware so that you do not need to activate the AT&T cell phone service is OK. You should be in a position to buy the iPhone and use it for the music, video and internet capabilities without having to connect to AT&T’s cellphone network. It is possible to use places that provide free WiFi to access the net via your iPhone. The iPod isn’t going to ensure that you get internet capabilities. Therefore, if you desire to have internet, merged with awesome content then you will need an iPhone and you should not have to acquire expensive cell phone service that allows you to enjoy the reason most people buy an iPhone in the first place. Unlocking your iPhone, is it a good idea? In this case, yes it’s.
Then there exists a third reason to hack into the firmware. This is certainly really in a grey area as it uses the complete capabilities on the iPhone, including utilizing it as a phone. You are able to add Skype VOIP service for around $10 a month and then you’ve a WiFi phone. If you are using the iPhone in this way and do not wish to use AT&T’s cell phone service you might be still going to have to hack into the firmware to ensure that you do not activate the telephone with AT&T. Is this in violation of the AT&T, Apple agreement? No, it can be not. That agreement is for AT&T to deliver exclusive cell phone service for the iPhone. The VOIP service is not cellphone service. Therefore, if you’re not making use of another cell phone supplier for your iPhone you’re not violating any agreement. This is one method to get close to the exclusive contract with AT&T and still be capable to send and receive calls. The only drawback is that you have to be in an area where it is possible to pickup a WiFi signal in order to use your Skype VOIP service.
Unlocking your iPhone, is it an excellent thought? This will depend on your own views. Similarly there are legal and ethical issues with hacking into the firmware typically. However, your intent on why you might be doing this also comes into play. Apple and AT&T have an exclusive agreement in terms of cellphone service goes. Apple doesn’t recommend the usage of another SIM card other than the one which came with your phone but it doesn’t specifically prohibit it either. If you bought the iPhone to use for content and internet only or even if you plan to work with it as an expensive Skype VOIP phone, that is your business and you should be capable to accomplish this without taking expensive cell phone service you do not need. Unlocking your iPhone, is it an excellent concept? Perhaps.

This may apply to other operating systems as well. I dont know how to word it so ill use an example. So say when the motorola droid gets upgraded to 2.1 later this week, where does the upgrading take place, where does it go to? what part of the internal memory, RAM or software takes in the upgrade? So do phones with more of RAM or software or even the processor speed have anything do to with upgrading the phone to the next software point like going from 2.0 to 2.1?
The up grade will only affect what it is intended to upgrade. It will not alter the RAM. That is what it is, set from the manufacturer’s specs. Generally to upgrade RAM you have to replace the ‘chip’ itself. The upgrade should only work should only work on what it is intended to specifically improve. That will most likely be limited to improvements of program protocols. Anything you read about the update will only be speculation. But Here are what I consider worth while links.

I have a Blackberry Storm2 & I love it..but I heard that the motorola droid can be a possible I-Phone Killer.. Is it just me or is the Blackberry Storm2 being overlooked ?
I have looked long and hard at the Storm 2 and Motorola Droid (current Storm 1 owner). I can say that the speed of the Droid blows away the BB Storm family hands down. It’s screen is higher resolution, Camera is better, video is near HD quality and even have a physical keyboard (on top of the on screen versions).
So in the end I throw my vote towards the Droid.

can you watch you tube videos on the motorola cliq
& it this android phone a good purchase
& how much extra is the motoblur plan
The cliq comes with a YouTube widget that gives you direct access to youtube videos,
it is an awesome android phone, and the "motoblur plan" it is a service installed in ur cliq and does not cost you anything…
I didn’t like the motoblur service at first because there were so many updates I was receiving from myspace and facebook, but now I got used to it and love it… it saves a lot of time from having to log in to differfent sites or having different apps open.

Theres a new android phone by motorola coming out. If you’ve heard of it do you think itd be worth waiting till march to see it or is the droid better?
I’m thinking the same thing… because I’m up for an upgrade and I don’t know if I should wait for the Devour to come out…
After doing my research, it seams that the Devour is much more about "social networking" such as Facebook, Twitter, etc. But I hear that the Devour won’t run off the latest Android OS… not sure if that’s a big deal or not.
Try comparing the two phones and see which features you prefer:

I hope this helps!

I am wanting to get this phone, obviously it has to be unlocked, but I was wondering if I get one and use it with AT&T if I will be able to use all the extras, like the android app service, etc. I also wanted to know if the internet is a lot slower using Edge since you can’t use the 3G service with AT&t? Thanks!
yes.
yes internet is slower

also in my music folder some of the songs r in blue text&some in blk text, i thought that meant something cuz the 1st song i was successful@adding was in blue then i tried another blue from a diff album&it didnt wk. does any1 know y they’re in a diff color. Then i thought i needed to upgrade my USB ports b/c every time i connect something i get a bubble saying something about hi speed2.0 is faster@transfering files. mayb some files have copyright protection? idk its really buggin me cuz this should b a pretty simple task right?
no thats not it, the prob is the songs i am able to transfer to my droid arent Protected Content. so i need to find a program that bypasses this
Maybe the songs you are trying to transfer are loaded in your iTunes?
Look at the 3rd tip on this page and try transferring the songs using that program:

Does anybody know how to change ringback tones on motorola droid?
Go to verizon web site. Scroll over Entertainment & apps….select ringback tones. Sign into your account then and then you can change the ringback tones there.
